'Pairc Naoṁ Bride' Drumkeerin |
St Brigid's Park, Drumkeerin "Pairc Naoṁ Bride was officially opened on 16th May 1993.
To mark the occasion, a senior intercounty football challenge between Leitrim and Derry provided the main entertainment.
Derry were the victors on this occasion, and proceeded on to claim the All-Ireland title four months later.
Our own beloved Leitrim followed shortly with their own landmark success, winning their 2nd Connacht Championship in the following year 1994.

'Pairc Naoṁ Bride' was purchased by Drumkeerin Gaa club in 1983 following negotiations with four local land owners. Clareman and club Chairman, Michael Hanley negotiated the purchase of the grounds from the four land owners, a great achievement.
Prior to this Drumkeerin played matches in a pitch located about a quarter of a mile from the village on the Manorhamilton road, and previous to this in Buchanan's field which lies between the Dowra road and the old road.
Since the park's official opening in 1993 the pitch and surrounding grounds have gone through a number of re-development projects, with funds raised from various club fundraising, and national lottery schemes.

One such development was the construction of a spectator's stand - as pictured above.
A recent addition has been the construction of a handball alley to replace the previous alley located in the village.
The playing field is undergoing a lengthening and widening project, and the increased playing surface will be available shortly.

A new gym facility open to the public was added by the Handball Club in late 2009.
